Substance abuse and depression began to impact my life when I was young. I have deep compassion for those struggling with the disease of addiction. By utilizing my knowledge and empathy for these individuals, I am able to assist them in their therapeutic processes. I have over 10 years worth of experience within the mental health field, whether it be working with individuals in the criminal justice system or conducting individual, family therapy, and couples therapy. I am currently accepting clients for a variety of mental health concerns at Right Direction Counseling.

Immediate daytime openings available! Sometimes life can feel heavy, or hopeless, and it’s hard to know next steps. You may feel stuck in patterns you don’t fully understand or weighed down by emotions that are hard to name. Do you feel like different parts of you are at odds, with one part pushing you forward, another holding you back or feeling uncertain? In therapy, we’ll move at your pace, side by side. My style is warm, curious, and collaborative— surrounded by plants, fidget toys, tea, and lots of books! Together, we’ll make sense of what’s happening inside and support you in finding clarity, relief, and a new way forward.
I support adults and young adults navigating experiences like anxiety, trauma, grief, depression and life transitions. My approach blends Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness, and trauma-informed care. I also offer EMDR when it’s a good fit. Together, we’ll find the path that best supports your healing, growth, and self-understanding.
Taking the step to begin therapy is an act of strength and self-awareness. If you are feeling overwhelmed, uncertain, or in need of support, I welcome the opportunity to walk alongside you. Together, we will move at a pace that feels safe and supportive, with the goal of helping you reconnect with your inner clarity, strength, and sense of wholeness.

I hope to have clients who will be honest with me and let me help them where they are at. My clients don't have to be perfect, just willing to challenge themselves to trust the therapeutic process. The goal is to persevere and continue working on improvement, not expect perfection.
Hello! I earned my Master's in Counseling from Central Michigan University. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and help people struggling with depression, anxiety, and trauma. I also provide family and couples therapy, and can provide a Christian/faith based, or secular approach.
I have worked with clients from many different backgrounds and treat everyone with dignity, respect, and care. I value relationships, and I have been told my greatest strengths are being approachable, kind, humorous, straight forward, and a good listener/ problem solver. I am confident I can help you!

I have been in practice for over 25 years and have worked in a variety of settings including private practice, a medical setting and several university counseling centers. I have extensive training in working with women's issues, Eating Disorders and trauma/PTSD and am trained in the use of EMDR. I have experience with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, sexual abuse/assault, divorce and self-esteem issues. In addition to individual therapy, I provide limited types of psychological assessment.
Prior to receiving my Ph.D. I was a Special Education teacher for 11 years and have taught at the university level for over 20 years in the areas of Eating Disorders, Ethics, the practice of therapy, Supervision, and Psychopathology and Diagnosis. I also co-authored a book chapter on the Treatment of Eating Disorders.
I have a therapy dog named Bleu who accompanies me daily. Golden Retrievers are loving, compassionate and playful and have the perfect temperament for this work. Bleu helps clients open up to the therapeutic process and he creates a welcoming, safe (and at times, playful) atmosphere.

If this is your 1st or your 100th time seeking therapy, I want to let you know that you are one step closer to a better and healthier lifestyle. Harboring secret thoughts, feelings, shame, and guilt can be very difficult to handle on your own. Sharing these with a stranger can be difficult as well, but I do want to reassure you, it will be easier.
I graduated from Western Michigan University with a Masters in Counseling Psychology. With CBT techniques and Person-Centered Therapy, I believe it can help with stress, depression, anxiety, cope with complicated relationships, deal with grief, and face many other common challenges.
The goal is to help you live a happier and more fulfilling life by working through any challenges. I believe you deserve a non-judgmental, comfortable environment to express and share your experiences. I look forward to helping you take the journey in completing your puzzle of life and moving forward with a positive change in your life.

Relationships can be messy, confusing, and, at times, deeply frustrating. You might feel unheard and struggle to rebuild trust. You may feel unsure if you’re with the right person. Navigating love and relationships can be overwhelming, whether you're trying to move on from a breakup, contemplating getting back with an ex, or searching for the right partner to maintain a lasting connection. Many people don’t realize how much power they hold in their relationships until they start making different choices. If you’re feeling stuck, longing to reconnect, or trapped in painful patterns with your partner, you don't have to face it alone
Rick, an experienced relationship expert, combines compassion and empathy to address the complexities of dating and relationships. Through emotionally focused and solution-focused therapies, along with attentive listening, he guides clients toward a profound sense of calm amidst their challenges.
Focused couples therapy helps partners identify and work through the underlying emotional dynamics that contribute to relationship distress. This approach ultimately leads to stronger, more secure connections and improved communication. By focusing on emotions and attachment needs, couples often find solutions quickly..

Accepting New Clients - Life presents many challenges, and sometimes those might be a death in the family, cancer, job loss, or trauma. Our minds can create too much stress, depression, or anxiety. A mental health disorder could take over our minds and what we think about on a daily basis. How does one manage all of these things that can happen within our life time? I love working with kids, teens, and adults as we are all faced with difficulties in life. I have been a caregiver to cancer and other medical situations. I have lost a parent, and I have my own mental health concerns. I understand many of these situations, and your story is still different and needs to be heard. I'm here to listen.
After two decades as a teacher and college advisor, I am well educated on our schools and navigating them. So I can help children find happiness while going to school and at home. We all have difficulties, and we can work on this together! My goal is to help you or your child build confidence and work toward their goals for happiness!
